Meet Ben
I'm a violist and violinist based in Ottawa, currently completing my Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance at the University of Ottawa. I teach a roster of violin and viola students, building on experience teaching at Kanata Music Academy and volunteering at the National Capital Suzuki School of Music. On stage, I have performed with the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and I freelance at weddings and corporate events around the city. Off the stage, I enjoy golf, skiing and baseball.
My approach to teaching
Two proven traditions, one simple goal: help you fall in love with playing.
Suzuki-Inspired & Compassionate
I lean on the ear-training foundations and gentle, encouraging philosophy of the Suzuki method, especially for younger and newer students.
Fun First
Learning a first song you already love, and turning practice into a game, keeps motivation high and lessons something to look forward to.
Royal Conservatory Rigour
For reading, theory, and technique, I draw on the Royal Conservatory curriculum to build musicians with a real, lasting foundation.
